[Fixed] Outlook Not Implemented On Windows

While clicking on the “Send/Receive” button while sending or receiving any Outlook emails, you may encounter an error. It appears as a dialog window with the “Not Implemented” message on the screen. 

On encountering this message, you won’t be able to send or receive any emails from the Outlook. Sometimes, it also restricts you from checking the emails as well. 

This problem mainly occurs when Microsoft Outlook is corrupted or damaged. This is an annoying problem but can be solved quickly. 

Causes due to which Microsoft Outlook not Implemented

There are various causes for leading to the issue when Outlook not implemented. Here, we are going to list some common causes of why this error occurs:

• Missing or damaged PST file
• Windows Defender Firewall is enabled
• Installed security software
• An outdated version of the Operating System
• Enable the Outlook Add-ins
• Improper or corrupted Outlook installation 
• Incorrect Outlook properties or compatibility settings.

How to Fix if Outlook not Implemented on Windows?

Although this is a common problem, it is possible to fix this Outlook issue. Here we have discussed some of the easy and effective methods to solve this problem on your computer. 

So, let’s take a look at the steps given below:

Method 1 – Disable Windows Defender Firewall 

Often, the Windows Defender/Firewall is responsible for this error on the system. So, before sending the email, you can disable the Windows feature at the earliest. The following steps will help you with it:

1. Press the Windows Home button and choose the Control Panel.
2. From this window, go to the Windows Firewall section.
3. Click on the “Turn Windows Defender On and Off” option on the left panel.
4. On the right window, mark on the “Turn Off Windows Defender Firewall” option for both Private Network Settings and Public Network Settings sections.
5. After that, click on the “Save Changes” option to save it. 

After doing this, check if the Windows Firewall settings were triggering this error or not. 

Method 2 – Remove Security Software

The third-party security software is often the reason behind the “Not Implemented” error in Microsoft Outlook. Therefore, you can remove it by following the undermentioned steps:

1. Press the Start button and click on the “Settings” icon.
2. From the Settings window, double-click on the “Apps & Features” section.
3. Select the “Apps” tab on the left panel. Scroll down the page and locate the third-party security software, select it. 
4. After that, click on the “Uninstall” option.

Once the uninstallation process is done, restart your device and then try to send or receive any emails. 

Method 3 – Repair Microsoft Outlook

Due to the damaged or corrupted files,  this error can occur on your computer. So, you need to perform the repair process before doing anything. To do that, follow these directions cited below:

1. Press the Windows button + R key together to launch the Run box.
2. Type “appwiz.cpl” and press the Enter button or click on the OK option.
3. From the “Programs & Features” window, look for the Microsoft Outlook, select it.
4. After that, click on the “Repair” option to begin the repair process. 

Once the repair process is done, reboot your system and check if the problem gets fixed or not. 

Method 4 – Update Operating System

Updating the Operating System is an easy task to get rid of the “Not Implemented” error on the Outlook. So, in order to stop this error from appearing, it is necessary to keep the system up to date. Go through these steps to implement it:

1. Launch the “Settings” window.
2. Navigate to the “Update & Security” section.
3. Select the “Update” tab and then click on the “Check for updates” option for the available updates. 
4. If the update is available, then click on the “Update” option to start the process.

Once the update process is complete, the device will automatically restart.

Method 5 – Change Outlook Properties

Incorrect settings can cause this error in Outlook. Therefore, you need to change the settings and solve this problem. Here’s how to do that:

1. Press the Win + E buttons together to launch the File Explorer window.
2. From that window, go to the path “C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office Version(14,16, etc)\”. 
3. Locate the Outlook.exe and right-click on it. After that, choose the “Properties” option. 
4. Now, go to the “Compatibility” tab and unmark the “Run this program in compatibility mode for” checkbox.
5. Untick on the “Run this program as an administrator” option. 

After performing these steps, click on the “Apply” button followed by the “OK” option to save the changes. 

Method 6 – Use Safe Mode to Turn Off Add-ins

If the Add-ins is turned on or enabled, then you can come across the “Not Implemented” error. Therefore, you can disable it. Here are some steps that you can follow:

1. Press the Win + R buttons to launch the Run box. 
2. Type “Outlook /safe” and then hit the Enter button or click on the OK option.
3. Now the Outlook will open in safe mode. On the Outlook window, click on the File menu and then select the Options.
4. From the Options window, click on the “Add-ins” tab on the left panel.
5. On the right window, select “Add-ins” from Manage and then click on the “Go” option.
6. Untick the Add-ins that you want to remove or disable. 

After doing this, restart the Outlook. 

Method 7 – Change Send/Receive Settings

All the Send/Receive information is stored in the SRS file. Hence, changing the SRS file can solve this problem. So, perform the following steps:

1. Press the Windows Home button and E key to launch the File Explorer window. 
2. From that window, navigate to the following path: C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Outlook\ 
3. In the Outlook folder, find the “Outlook.srs” and change its name to “Outlook.srs.old”. 

Once you are done, restart Outlook and check if the problem still occurs or not. 

Method 8 – Use PST Repair Tool

Using the PST repair tool, you can fix the “Not Implemented” error in Outlook. ScanPST.exe is a built-in tool that you can find in the Office installation folder. It can solve various problems in the Outlook PST file. So, you need to use this tool by following the under mentioned steps:

1. Press the Win + E buttons together to launch the File Explorer window.
2. In the File Explorer window, go to the following paths C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Outlook\
3. Locate “scanpst.exe” and double-click on it. 
4. Browser the PST file and then click on the Start button. Now, this tool will find the problem.
5. If any problems are found, then click on the “Repair” button. 

After completing the repair process, reboot your device.  

Method 9 – Create a New Outlook Profile

If the previous methods did not solve the problem, then you can try to create a new Outlook profile on your computer. Follow the steps to create your Outlook profile:

1. Launch the Control Panel window and go to the Mail section.
2. Click on the “Show Profiles” option.
3. Choose your profile and click on the “Remove” button.
4. Then, click on the “Add” option to create a new profile.
5. Fill all the details in the desired field.

After creating a new profile, add your mail and restart Outlook to check if the problem shows up or not.
